Hi Everyone:

I am officially going to be a speaker at Joomla Day in Washington DC. The conference will take place on October 16th, 2010. You can register here. This is a very exciting opportunity. My talk will be about Joomla! 1.6 Templating. Following the blog I wrote on s-go.net, this is a topic I'm feeling quite comfortable with talking about now. If you read the abstract I wrote for the J!Day DC Program you'll see that my talk is going to focus on:

• Required Joomla! Folder Structure
• Setting up your Index file
• Creating Module Positions
• Creating Collapsible Modules Columns
• Creating an install file (xml file)
• Using the Template Override System
• Creating and installing a template

This will be a really good session for anyone who's wondering about how to take what they already know about HTML and CSS, and using that in developing a functioning Joomla! template. What's more, if you've developed template's for Joomla 1.5 and are curious about the changes you'll need to address for Joomla 1.6, this will be a great session for you to attend.

I have updated the socialtwist tell a friend widget for Joomla! 1.5.x!

This widget has the ability to send the page you are viewing to not only email addresses from your personal contact list, it can also send your friends an Instant Message, as well as post to Social Networking sites. That kicks butt! The widget is based on code provided by social twist.

The code requires you to set up a free account at socialtwist.com. This allows you to track uses of the module (analytics).

The latest version, 4.5, will allow you to use the module on SSL pages without errors in IE6. In addition to that, you can create and enter your own custom images.
